44 STEM students from Thunderbolt Middle School and the Chemehuevi reservation went to Lake Havasu State Park to participate in the pilot or test day for the Kids on the Colorado River program. The program was created by Michael Peters and Dan Delasantos after the two learned a large number of locals haven’t been out on or know much about Lake Havasu.

The 8th grade class from Thunderbolt Middle School in the Lake Havasu Unified School District had the opportunity to take part in learning all about the desert they live in. The day is hosted by local educators and agencies that focus on; History and Resources Wildlife Species and Native Plants Hiking and Recreation Safety Search and Rescue Equipment Learn Map Coordinates/ Geocaching Ecology of the Lake & River
